The sessions were organized around areas of current interest (the environment and cancer, present problems in cancer treatment), current areas of heightened interest (tumor viruses), and areas of hope for the future (chromosome structure and somatic cell genetics, antigenic and functional properties of cell surfaces). The Canadian Cancer Research Conferences, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute of Canada, focus on multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of cancer and serve as an international forum for the presentation and discussion of new research into the problem of cancer. This collection of twelve stimulating and informative papers from the tenth conference is devoted to discussions of endogenous viruses, environmental carcinogens, tumor immunology, and chemotherapy. It should be not only valuable to the expert but within the grasp of the novice. The following papers are included.
