This volume resulted from the 3rd Sudan Studies Research Conference, hosted at the at the Ioannou Centre for Byzantine and Classical Studies, University of Oxford in May 2019. The conference provided an opportunity for scholars from various institutions across the world to come together for networking and to discuss their research. The papers in this volume focus on recent fieldwork in Sudan, mortuary practices, pottery decoration, architecture as well as archival material.
