Academics John Avery Lomax and Dr. Leonidas Warren Payne, Jr. served as its first officers, with the latter becoming the organization's first president and the former becoming the first secretary. The following individuals were secretaries: Judd Mortimer Lewis, Edward Rotan, and Lillie T. Shaver. The treasurer was Miss Ethel Hibbs. The counselors were Theo G. Lemmon, Joseph B.
