Karakoram International University

Karakoram International University (KIU) or Karakoram University ( ) is a public sector university located in Gilgit, the capital city of the Gilgit-Baltistan region in northern Pakistan. It was established in 2002 with a charter from the Federal Government of Pakistan, aiming to increase access to higher education in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The main campus is located near the meeting point of the Gilgit and Hunza rivers and surrounded by a stunning range of majestic mountains. Students in Gilgit-Baltistan had to endure great hardship before the university's establishment because they could not pursue their undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate degrees elsewhere. Fortunately, today's students can obtain higher education right in their community. Provided by Wikipedia
