The usage of large language models, such as ChatGPT, for diverse tasks has rapidly become commonplace. For example, they are used to assist in writing tasks that range from simple e-mails to scientific writing, or to obtain information online. However, it is also well-known that the results obtained from such models are often unreliable.

In this half-day seminar, Dr. Mathieu Gravey of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research of the OeAW, will provide a short introduction to some of the technical background of language models, before discussing how ChatGPT and its competition can improve your overall workflow while avoiding their many pitfalls. The seminar includes a Hands-on Session, where participants can immediately put what they learned in practice and, together with Dr. Gravey, explore how to apply this technology to their own tasks and problems.

This is a hybrid event, but participation in presence is strongly encouraged. If you would like to participate, please register here: ChatGPT Seminar Registration. Registration ensures that you will receive all the information required to prepare for the event, and have the chance to propose specific tasks/scenarios to be discussed during the seminar.

Program:
13:00-13:30 (Introduction to Language Models and Transformers)
13:30-14:30 (Do's and Don't's of ChatGPT)
