Chloroplast Membrane Quality Control
I am characterizing two proteins of unknown function that are highly conserved across plant species. My preliminary data suggest that these proteins are involved in thylakoid remodeling in response to photooxidative stress.
Research interests
During my Master's, I developed a particular appreciation for RNA interference because it is an excellent example of how biological phenomena can be transversally employed to improve and renew traditional technologies.
Currently, I am becoming familiar with the mechanisms involved in chloroplast biogenesis and quality control. In particular, I am very excited to shed light on the molecular players involved in chloroplast membrane remodeling. This biological phenomenon is of fundamental importance for all photosynthetic eukaryotes but remains poorly understood.
