Research Projects
UFMylation regulation of ER-phagy receptor C53
Previous work by our lab identified C53 as a conserved autophagy receptor in response to endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-stress. I am now working with my colleagues, PhD students Lorenzo Picchianti and Victor Sanchez De Medina on this follow-up project. We aim to uncover the regulation mode of C53 protein during ER stress.
Research interests
Plants are constantly exposed to changing environmental stress. I am interested in understanding how plants cope with various types of stress and maintain their homeostasis from a cellular and organismal perspective. More specifically, I want to explore the degradation mechanism for cytotoxic proteins under stress, and how plants employ diverse protein quality control pathways to clear them. Besides, I aim to uncover the roles of possible posttranslational modifications on target proteins during the stress signaling response.
