During the visit Jürgen Eckert, ESI’s director, gave an overview of ESI’s core areas of expertise: 1) Tailoring Functional Properties, 2) Plasticity, Fracture, and Fatigue, 3) Multi-scale Mechanics, 4) Structural and Interface Engineering, and 5) Non-equilibrium Materials Design. Group Leaders Megan Cordill, Daniel Kiener, and Jozef Keckes provided overviews of various projects where ESI and Infineon have collaborated. The discussions were followed by a short tour of some of ESIs core facilities in the fields of multiscale mechanics and severe plastic deformation. Infineon and ESI are looking forward to a strong and fruitful continued collaboration. Fotocredit: ©ÖAW/Markus Kohlmayr
