»Handwerk im municipium Claudium Iuvavum und dessen Umland«
Felix Lang | Universität Salzburg
As early as the Augustan period, a settlement was established in the area of today's Salzburg Old Town, which was granted town status in the middle of the 1st century AD. In the city area, evidence of workshops and their products can be found in several places. These are primarily ceramics and metalworking. There is also evidence of craft activities in the rural surroundings of Iuvavum. The lecture deals with the structure of the documented crafts and their location. It will also be discussed whether there is evidence of »craft quarters«.
