Description
Flexible structures appear in mechanical engineering, biology (e.g. the human skeleton), chemistry (on microscopic scale). Their geometric properties have been studied in geometry since the 19th century. Questions about symmetry, paradoxical mobility, and topology of configuration spaces are still in the focus of modern algebra, geometry, and topology.
