Following a very competitive search, Dr Youssef Belkhadir, formerly head of his own genomic research company (Atlas Genomics) in Morocco and before that a senior research assistant at the Salk Institute, has been recruited as Junior Group Leader at the Gregor Mendel Institute.
The Belkhadir Group began at the Gregor Mendel Institute on June 1, 2014. Dr Belkhadir's research focuses on understanding how light and growth hormone signals allow plants to optimize the fluctuating investments they make towards growth and defences in specific cells and organs but also at the population level.
With his arrival, the spectrum of research conducted at the Institute has therefore been further broadened. We wish him the very best in his career here!
