Am Beispiel des nationalen Politikbetriebs in Berlin und Madrid untersucht er die temporäre soziale Produktion und dauerhafte Konstruktion dieser politischen Orte sowie ihre Bedeutung für die Handelnden. Dabei wird deutlich, wie die bloße Anwesenheit an bestimmten Orten - aber auch das Wissen über ihre richtige Nutzung - die Laufbahnen der einzelnen politischen Akteure und die Regeln des politischen Feldes beeinflussen können.
