Ruth Katz
}} Ruth Katz (born 1927) is an Israeli musicologist, a pioneer of academic musicology in Israel, professor emerita at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She has been a corresponding Member of the American Musicological Society since 2011. She was named laureate of the Israel State Prize in 2012.Katz's work addresses ethnomusicology, philosophy and aesthetics of music, and music cognition. It is characterized by methodological sophistication, broad interdisciplinary perspectives and a synthetic view focusing on unveiling the ideational components.
