Deriving Plasma Densities from Controlled Spacecraft Potential Data
Scientific measurements from the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission Turbulence Campaign are used to derive electron plasma densities from spacecraft potential data. The Active Spacecraft Potential Control instrument (ASPOC) was operating throughout the selected magnetosheath time interval, resulting in a controlled spacecraft potential. The derived plasma density as well as magnetic field fluctuations are then used for statistical analysis to investigate turbulence in magnetosheath plasma.
