Der Aufsatz unterzieht Robert Walsers Text ›Die Wurst‹ einer genauen Lektüre. Er analysiert dessen komplexe rhetorische Struktur und lotet religiöse, sozialgeschichtliche und psychologi- sche Sinngehalte aus. Zum Verständnis des Verhältnisses all dessen profiliert er ein humoris- tisches Verfahren, das Walsers Text poetologisch spiegelt.

The paper offers a close reading of Robert Walser’s text ›Die Wurst‹ (›The Sausage‹). It analyzes its complex rhetorical structure as well as the religious, sociohistorical and psychological con- notations of its subject. For an understanding of the relation of all these, it utilises a humorous method, that reflects Walser’s text in its poetic conception.
