Thomas Klings ›Sevilla, 1671‹ aus dem Band ›Sondagen‹ ist ein Gedicht auf Juan de Valdés Leals Barockemälde ›In ictu oculi‹. Durch seine Nachbarschaft zu Gedichten zu einem weiteren Bild Leals und einem Foto aus dem Spanischen Bürgerkrieg wird ein Kontext aus Barock, Moderne und Gegenwart hergestellt. Der Beitrag zeigt, wie das Motiv des ‚memento mori‘ mit der Thematik des Augenblicks verknüpft wird und die Möglichkeiten der sprachlichen Beschwörung von Bildern erprobt und reflektiert werden.

Thomas Klings ›Sevilla, 1671‹ from the volume ›Sondagen‹ is a poem on Juan de Valdés Leals baroque painting ›In ictu oculi‹. Its various links with poems on another painting by Leal and a photography from the Spanish Civil War create a context of baroque, modern and present. The article shows how the motif of the ‘memento mori’ connects with the theme of the moment and how the possibilities of the verbal evocation of images are tested and reflected upon.
