Dr. Eckert was born in 1962 in Bayreuth, Germany, studied Materials Sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nürnberg and received this PhD in 1990. In 2010 he habilitated at the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering of the Dresden University of Technology with his thesis “Metastable phases in multicomponent systems”.
Most recently Dr. Eckert was the Director of the Institute for Complex Materials at the Leibniz-Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden and Professor for “Materials Synthesis and Analysis “ at the Institute of Materials Science of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering of the Dresden University of Technology.
