At the limit of time

Ultrafast attosecond flashes were generated for the first time in Vienna in 2001. That was the shortest controllable time span ever measured. Ferenc Krausz, who achieved this breakthrough, explained at a Schrödinger Lecture at the OeAW how the new technology opened up a whole new range of opportunities and could one day be used in medicine.
