International Symposium on Plasticity 2018 – San Juan, Puerto Rico 2018

From January 3rd to 9th the annual “International Symposium on Plasticity” took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This Conference series, where over 300 international participants in 3 parallel sessions met, is the prime forum for plasticity, damage and fracture research dissemination and offers an excellent platform for researchers to meet colleagues from different countries and research fields to collaborate with in the future. Dr. A. Bachmaier presented an invited keynote lecture on the controlling factors for supersaturation during severe plastic deformation of immiscible dual-phase composites in the Mini-Symposium ‘Nanocrystalline & Ultra Fine Grained Metals’. Moreover, Dr. K. Kormout gave an invited presentation in the Mini-Symposium on Mechanical properties of nanocrystalline and high entropy alloy materials in honor of Carl Koch’. The intensive and interesting lectures and the following discussions during the conference and in the free time in the evening gave a good opportunity to deepen the fundamental understanding of scientific problems in the field of plasticity. Finally, the conference dinner was used to network with colleagues from other universities.
